Who we are

Arirang Post is an English-language travel desk covering Korea for visitors. Reporting is produced by an automated research and drafting pipeline under editorial rules that are published in full, and every article is filed under the desk that covers its subject.

The desk

About these bylines. The names below are Arirang Post’s own editorial identities — standing bylines for the desks this publication runs, not biographies of individual staff writers, and not real people. They exist so that each subject area has a stated scope you can hold us to: if an entry-rules article is filed under the transport desk, that is a mistake you can see. Accountability for accuracy rests with Arirang Post as publisher, under the editorial policy.

  Explains what a visitor is actually looking at: what a rite is for, why a site was built, what happens at a performance and when. Works from the accounts published by the bodies that document these things, and writes nothing about a practice that a reader has no way to go and see.

  Answers the questions visitors keep asking, in the order they come up, with real costs and the step where people usually get stuck. Writes explainers that are meant to still be correct in six months, and dates them so you can tell when they were last checked.

  Covers what it takes to get into the country and stay legal once you are here: entry authorisation, visa categories, arrival paperwork and the deadlines attached to them. Works from the immigration service's own notices and states the date each change takes effect in KST.

  Covers festivals, exhibitions, performances, seasonal events, opening hours

  Writes the dated listings: what is on, when it runs in KST, what a ticket costs in KRW and which station exit puts you closest to the door. Leaves out any detail the venue has not published rather than guessing at it.

Accountability

Automation collects sources, judges which of them bear on a story, builds a research packet and drafts only from its selected facts. Publishing remains a separate audited deployment step.

What we do not do

• We do not translate someone else’s article and publish it as our own reporting.
• We do not publish a fact without a source recorded in our database, and where a claim rests on one news organisation’s reporting we name that organisation in the sentence.
• We do not publish a fallback or template article when a drafting step fails; the work is retried instead.
• We do not present these bylines as real individuals, and we do not use a real person’s name or likeness.
